When I first met this couple I knew it was going to be a fun project. Both of them are in creative fields and it shows throughout their home. The primary needs were more space for their large family and a better connection from the kitchen to other parts of the historical 19th century house and the backyard. We captured unfinished existing space on the third floor for a new master suite. This increased the value on their investment property and gave the couple privacy and space. The existing kitchen was designed for a historic lifestyle with servants. The kitchen was blocked off from the front family rooms with only an entry through the back stair. We removed a pantry and storage space to create a larger kitchen and connection into the existing front rooms. Also we removed the small window and radiator on back wall and replaced it with an eight foot wide bi-fold door to a new back deck.
